Welcome to the Giles County Historical Society! Formed in 1806, this county has an incredibly rich history. The history of the county dates back even further than the formation of the society itself. The New River attracted Native Americans whom were in search of fertile hunting grounds. Immigrants, primarily Scots-Irish immigrants, pushed the borders and chose to settle near the river. Andrew Johnston’s family deeded their family home which had been built in 1829. It served as a doctor’s office in addition to a two-car garage to the Giles County Historical Society. This mission of the society is unique and worth further research!
